REDEEMING DANCE DRESS CODE

Students need to abide by a dress code for the following reasons:

  • A neat, tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teachers, and the art of dance.
  • Teachers must be able to see the dancer’s body outline clearly to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc.

Additional notes:

  • Hair must be secured appropriately and tied off the face and neck for all dance styles.
  • Jewelry must not be loose or dangling.
  • Gum chewing is not allowed due to the danger of choking and appearance.
  • No loose-fitting pants, blue jeans, or t-shirts.
  • No classroom costumes are allowed unless the teacher announces a dress-up day.

Pre-Primary:

  • Girls: Black or pink leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes. Neat and secure ballet bun.
  • Boys: Any solid color t-shirt, black dance pants, and black canvas ballet shoes.

Primary:

  • Girls: Black leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes. Neat and secure ballet bun.
  • Boys: Any solid color t-shirt, black dance pants, and black canvas ballet shoes.

Junior/Intermediate/Advanced Levels Girls:

  • Black leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink canvas ballet shoes. Neat and secure ballet bun with bangs secured away from the face. Any color leotards are allowed for Friday and Saturday classes and during rehearsals only.
  • Boys: Black tights or dance pants, a white solid color t-shirt, black socks, and black canvas ballet slippers. Recommended dancewear store: Movin Easy 404 W 30th St, Austin, TX 78705

Modern/Jazz Dress Code:

  • Black leotard and black tights.
  • Footwear: barefoot, ballet shoes, or pirouettes, or socks.

Dress code for Hip Hop:

  • Loose comfortable clothing. This could include T-shirts, sweatshirts, baggy sweatpants or leggings.  
  • Footwear: Sneakers.

Attire for Contemporary:

  • Tight fitted clothing. Leggings, tank tops, or leotard & black tights are acceptable. NO crop tops/sports bras.
  • Footwear: barefoot, ballet shoes, or pirouettes, socks ONLY if allowed by Teacher.

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR PBT

FUSION BALL

You will use this ball quite a bit with the SubJr/Jr Program. It’s recommended to purchase the ball that has a stopper so you can take air out and add air in. You can find these on Amazon for around $10.

Size: Between 20-23cm in diameter or closest to 54xm (22″) in circumference (measurement around the ball)

Theraband

9ft therabands will be for sale at the workshop. $12 each. Cash is preferred.

Please make sure your theraband will be 6″ wide and 9ft long. It is recommended to use the Body sport brand in red Medium strength.

If you will be purchasing the ‘theraband’ brand, it is best to order green or blue strength as the red is not the right resistance. You will also need 2 hair ties that will hold the band in place.

Racquetball

Highly recommended over the lacrosse ball. Do not use a tennis ball.

Size is approx. 8″ or 20.5cm in circumference (measurement around the ball). Or 6.3cm / 2.5″ in diameter.

Pilates Mat and Water Bottle

You can find these on Amazon, Target, Walmart, or any local Pilates to Yoga studio.

ATTIRE

You will need to wear normal ballet clothes, leotard and tights. 

  • Black leotard, pink tights, barefoot, and bring socks.
  • Hair in a low ponytail – NO BALLET BUN
EXERCISE BALL

Also know as a ‘Swiss Ball’ or ‘Fit Ball’ Using your height to size up your ball.

When you stand next to an exercise ball, it should be even or slightly above your knee level. The best way to size up your ball is by sitting on it.

When you sit on the ball, knees should be bent at a 90-degree angle and your thighs should be parallel or even with the floor. Find your height and see which ball size you should try first.

For children five years and younger, always use a 45 cm ball.
